The RIO was started February 16,1947 by the
Rice and Olson families as a place to make cheese and ice cream from
milk produced at the farm next door. It was called "The Rio Dairy." (See
pictures under the saws at the end of the building) As time passed the
Rio Dairy became " The Rio Restaurant." I am not sure of the progression
of ownership after the Rice family sold, but the Johnson family were the
last owners before myself. It had become a roadside tavern. After some
remodeling and some new decorations the plan was to keep it a tavern.
The world changed and the RIO is a restaurant again! The staff and
myself welcome you and hope you enjoy your time with us!
